Just because we live in “Uber for X” times doesn’t mean we should sacrifice quality for convenience. Accordingly, your correspondents recently donated our bodies (or at least our stomachs) to three new local food delivery apps in the name of scholarly slothfulness. Herein: the results.
Time Ordered: 11:21 a.m.
Time Delivered: 11:30 a.m.
The Good: Lunch only. Menu changes daily. Excellent restaurant selection. Easy-to-use app and incredibly swift delivery. Andes chocolate mint was a nice touch.
The Bad: Currently only delivering in the Loop and River North. Food was warm but slightly soggy, though acceptable.
The Tasty: We got a pulled pork sammy and hush puppies from QBBQ. Cold items like sandwiches or sushi are your best bet.
Time Ordered: Thursday evening, for the following Monday between 6 and 7 p.m.
Time Delivered: Monday evening, 6:25 p.m.
The Good: Currently delivering Sunday and Monday. Menu changes weekly. Best for meal planning. Whether at home or for the office.
The Bad: Food comes chilled with instructions to heat fresh in oven. Think elevated frozen meal. Not a dealbreaker.
The Tasty: Good for iced coffee and fresh-pressed juices. Or any of their greens — like the roasted fennel citrus salad.
Time Ordered: 7:06 p.m.
Time Delivered: 7:20 p.m.
The Good: The ever-changing menu is headed by a former Baffo chef. Very healthy eats. Fast and easy. And with a 15-minute delivery time, perfect for when you’re in a pinch.
The Bad: Portions skew small. Sides (roasted beets, brown rice) were a little underwhelming.
The Tasty: The Persian beef stew tasted like a real home-cooked meal.
