Some cars are made to get you from point A to point B. Haul a load. Pilot themselves without human interference.

And that’s good for those cars. Hope they keep it up.

But some cars are made to be drop-dead, take-your-breath-away, impress-your-friends and spite-your-enemies gorgeous.

And Euro Classix Cars has the biggest, most beautiful stash of those cars in town.

A dealer and restoration house, ECC’s collection is twofold: you’ve got your autos (100% Italian, mostly pre-’80s and heavy on the Alfa Romeos) and your “Bello Moto” (read: vintage Vespas and Lambrettas).

One team collaborates on both initiatives.

Little backstory. Five years ago, Italian-born, S.F.-based classic car aficionado Gianluca Baldo realized he could make good on a dream: to track down the world’s sexiest scooters — the 1960s Vespas of his youth — and bring them home to California.

Now, Baldo and his team scour the continent for vintage Italian dream rides of many ilks. In his words, “very cool, collectible cars, but nothing so exotic it can’t be enjoyed.”

The group just debuted its latest collection in its new showroom: we’re talking cars like a 1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta, 1963 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 Spider or 1969 Fiat 500 F.

And on the scooter side: you’ve got to see them to believe them, but this is the one we want.

Together, the two brands operate a full-service shop, including a specialist technician who’s happy for you to bring your ride in for a checkup whenever she needs it.

If you’ve got a better way to spend the summer than behind the wheel, we’d love to hear about it.
