“Heritage.”
It’s the buzzword for brands from bootmakers to cabins.
The trend, much of the time relying on nostalgia rather than craftsmanship, has nonetheless found solid ground in the automotive world: from the Jaguar D-Type to Defender 90 excursions.
Now Fiat Chrysler is upping its ante. Through its FCA Heritage division, the company recently launched Reloaded by Creators — an initiative to find, restore and sell their classic vehicles.
The raison d’être, according to a press release, is to offer “for sale a limited number of carefully selected classic cars, specially purchased by the Department, which have been restored to their original glory and guaranteed by the constructor.” The profits “will then be used to finance new scouting activities to add important new pieces to FCA’s historic collection.”
These pieces belong to four marques: Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Abarth. In terms of the official restoration certification, FCA notes this is a first for both Alfa Romeo and Fiat models.
Below, the first five cars up for grabs, in order: 1991 Alfa Spider IV serie, 1981 Spidereuropa Pininfarina, 1973 Lancia Fulvia Coupé Montecarlo, 1989 Alfa Romeo SZ and 1959 Lancia Appia Coupé.
Unfortunately, the first two have been spoken for. If you want to make sure someone else doesn’t nab the next Spider, go ahead and sign up for their newsletter.
