Gemstones Made of Car Paint

Fordite (pictured below) is a “gemstone” used in handcrafted jewelry and other art. Also known as “Motor Agate,” the industrial compound is the product of the long-discontinued practice of spray painting cars by hand on the production line. The “rocks” are actually layers-upon-layers of heat-hardened paint.
