Last month, Elon Musk, the CEO behind Tesla and SpaceX, released a simulation video (see below) via his Boring Company, simply entitled “Tunnels.” It shows a car getting lowered underground on a pad, which would then whisk it at about 125 mph through an underground tunnel system before coughing it up at a new destination.

If you’re wondering what’s so “boring” about the company, you’re coming at it from the wrong definition of the word. Musk means “boring,” as in boring a system of tunnels under Los Angeles to cure its chronic traffic congestion issues. He spoke about the concept at length in a complementary TED talk.

In that simulation video, we also got a split-second glimpse at a clear, butter-dish-shaped, more generic-looking vehicle, waiting in a queue behind another car.

Now, that vehicle has some concept art to go along with it. It’s basically a smaller subway car that can transport people, commuters, bike messengers, and anybody else who might not have access to a car.
