Tesla has become accustomed to sending performance vehicles home with their tails between their legs. That is, until Genovation Cars came along.
The Rockville, MD, company recently broke the top-speed record for all-electric street legal vehicles with a converted sixth-gen Chevy Corvette Z06. For the second time in five months no less. The Genovation Extreme Electric Car, or GXE, topped out at an outstanding 205.6 mph at Florida’s Kennedy Space Center.
Under the hood, the highly modified GXE is pumping out 700hp and 600 lb-ft of torque compared to the ’vette’s typical 505 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. Under “normal driving conditions,” the GXE has a range of about 130 miles, while the original manages around 288 miles. Neither are meant for luxurious long road trips.
Did we mention it’s for sale? A relative steal, too, at just $335,000. Not bad for a collector who wishes to own a piece of speed history, or a speed demon eager to humiliate a Tesla-driving nemesis.
