1984 Chevrolet S10 with nitrous oxide kit at CCA Auction

Back in August, Tesla announced its new Model S was going to be the quickest production car in the world thanks to a Ludicrous Mode option that allows the car to hit 0-60 in 2.5 seconds.

This 1984 Chevrolet S10 pickup has that time beat every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Equipped with a nitrous oxide kit that put its horsepower in spitting distance of a McLaren P1, the road-legal truck packs 900 ponies that boost it from 0-60 in an otherworldly 1.3 seconds and allow it to cover a quarter mile in eight seconds flat.

With a top speed approaching 150 MPH, the truck is still fast when the nitrous isn’t flowing thanks to its new seven-liter, big-block V8 and rebuilt TH400 Andy Frost manual transmission.

Featuring a full roll cage with for safety, the Chevy will be hitting the block under the watchful eye of Classic Car Auctions on April 1st and 2nd and is expected to fetch as much as $42,000.

“We’ve never auctioned anything like this before,” said CCA car specialist Simon Langsdale. “It really is a unique piece of kit, especially as it is street legal and can be driven on the road.”
