Comedian Jimmy Kimmel has positioned himself in the center of a political debate over health care that has taken up a marathon of his late-night monologues in the months after his son was born with a heart defect, and Republicans in Congress attempted to replace Obamacare with multiple bills that wouldn’t “pass the Jimmy Kimmel test.”

The “test,” which ensures that “no family should be denied medical care, emergency or otherwise because they can’t afford it,” was coined by Republican Senator Bill Cassidy months ago before the Graham-Cassidy bill, which would not pass his own “test,” was introduced.

Here’s what Kimmel had to say about “finally returning to comedy” now that this health care bill is basically dead.
