Amex Perks Now Include an Inside Track on the World’s Hardest-to-Book Restaurants
A program in partnership with Resy called "Global Dining Access" launches today
About two years after American Express acquired Resy, the restaurant reservation service is rolling out some major benefits for premium card members as part of a broader refresh of its U.S. Consumer Platinum Card.
Launching today, the Global Dining Access by Resy grants Amex platinum card members exclusive access to some of America’s most sought-after restaurants, including Le Bernardin and Eleven Madison Park in New York, Jon & Vinny’s and Pasjoli in LA, Zaytinya and Oyamel Cocina Mexicana in Washington D.C., Duck Duck Goat and Roots Pizza in Chicago as well as international eateries like Noma (Copenhagen, Denmark), Osteria Francescana (Modena, Italy), Mirazur (Menton, France) and El Celler de Can Roca (Girona, Spain).
After linking their AmEx to their Resy account to unlock the Global Dining Access benefits, eligible cardmembers have the ability to access primetime tables that are being held every night at the participating restaurants. Though access varies from restaurant to restaurant and reservations are not guaranteed, seats at the designated tables are exclusive to Global Dining Access members. In addition to the exclusive tables, GDA members get Priority Notify at all Resy restaurants, which means they get alerted before other Resy users when a table they’ve set a notification for opens up.
“The Global Dining Access collection of restaurants is meant to be a hit list of the best and most exciting restaurants today and a reflection of modern cuisine in the U.S. and internationally,” Resy/American Express Global Dining Network VP and GM Alex Lee tells InsideHook. “The curation is driven by a number of factors, from diner demand (for example, many of the Resy restaurants with the most Notify requests are part of the collection) to card member demand (the most-requested restaurants by Amex cardmembers calling into the Amex Concierge) to industry intel and accolades. The group of restaurants will grow and evolve, as the restaurant landscape is constantly evolving.”
As Lee mentions, restaurants like Eleven Madison Park, Le Bernardin and some of the international eateries must be booked by calling the Amex Concierge. “The American Express concierge is a longstanding benefit of the Amex Platinum Card,” he says. “It is a service that offers concierge staff members to assist with travel planning, dinner reservations and more. While Platinum card members can continue to call the concierge to book restaurants, Global Dining Access makes those tables digitally accessible.”
In addition to exclusive tables and receiving Priority Notify at all Resy restaurants, Global Dining Access members will also be invited to take part in ongoing culinary events and experiences, like virtual cooking classes with renowned chefs.
