Who’s Up for an Overnight at the ‘Field of Dreams’ Farm?

Is this heaven? No, it's Iowa.'

“People will come, Ray. People will come to Iowa for reasons they can’t even fathom.”

Terrence Mann speaks the truth.

A little town called Dysersville, Iowa, where a farmer once agreed to let Hollywood come film a movie — based simply on the knowledge that it would involve baseball — has never stopped hosting those visitors, who arrive stunned to see the cornfield ballpark actually waiting for them, as if walking straight into a memory. And now, the whole experience just got a little sweeter than the corn out in center field.

The Field of Dreams farmhouse is open for overnight stays. This is your chance to stay in the same gorgeous, sprawling American frontier country home where Kevin Costner began an insane, fiscally questionable quest to reconcile the open wounds of old, dead ballplayers by razing a third of his land and building a baseball stadium.

The price is steep at $2,500 for a night, but there probably isn’t a more surefire way to win Father’s Day for the rest of time. Head there for a warm weather retreat with Pops and get a catch in, (Kleenex not included) or rally a larger group (most’ll have to stay elsewhere in the area) and get a game going.

Just don’t forget to wink at whomever’s on the mound.
