Parking lots: they’re romantic again.
If you haven’t noticed, those poorly lit, oil-stained blacktops have been returning, Life After People-like, to green spaces. As in farmers’ markets. And farms.
And the latest involve romantic sunset dinners.
Pull up a chair to the North Brooklyn Farms Supper Club at Williamsburg’s brand new Havemeyer Park, beginning this weekend and selling tickets now.
Presided over by the real estate crackerjacks who’ll soon turn the defunct Domino Sugar Factory into a sprawling residential complex, Havemeyer Park is a former concrete car park given new life: grassy areas for lounging, repurposed shipping containers dishing out local grub and an outdoor movie theater screening indie classics.
Oh, plus a fully functioning farm.
This is the site of the NBFSC, or “farm-to-table dinners where the distance between the two is 20 feet.”
Fresh veggies plucked from the earth, prepared by local chefs and enjoyed al fresco against a backdrop of sun-setting-over-Manhattan.
Menus will vary according to each week’s haul of greens. This week: everything from chickpea and tomato pie to a peach cobbler oatmeal cookie, all washed down with basil-infused gin cucumber cocktails.
And you thought you’d never spend the evening drinking in a parking lot again.
