If your friends think they hit the jackpot after finding that quaint Italian Airbnb on the coast, wait till they see your photos from these three-level Italian treehouses.
That’s right, Pigna (Italian for “pine cone”) is a pair of luxurious, elevated and totally rentable getaways in Malborghetto Valbruna.
Conceived by the firm Architetto Beltrame Claudio, the two structures are an addition to an established mountain retreat. “The concept phase was developed for an architectural competition in 2014, and only a couple of [years] later it became a concrete project in the Italian Alps nearby Tarvisio (at the border with Austria and Slovenia),” write the architects in Arch Daily.
You can stay in one of them for around $300 a night through Ecobnb, an Airbnb-like service dealing exclusively in sustainable properties.
The two-person lodging offers a 360-degree panoramic terrace on the first floor; a living room, kitchen, bathroom and porch on the second; and a domed bedroom topped with a glass skylight up top.
Just 28 feet tall and 20 feet in diameter, the treehouse still eclipses the kind you’ve probably tacked up with plywood and elbow grease in your backyard. And for amenities, you’re looking at included breakfast, aperitifs and dinner.
Next time you find yourself in Bel Paese, head for the hills instead of the beach.
