Melissa McCarthy won an Emmy this weekend for her impression of former White House press secretary Sean Spicer on Saturday Night Live. She took home Best Actress in a Comedy Series at the Emmy’s creative arts awards on Sunday, reports The Hill.
McCarthy’s impression of Spicer was memorable. She drove an inflatable podium through the streets of New York and threatened to run journalists over with it. She also harassed journalists by squirting them with a water gun. The Hill writes that SNL said goodbye to McCarthy’s impression when Spicer resigned in July, and writes that McCarthy was a “big hit.”
Spicer himself disagreed though, saying that the impression was over the line, and it was not funny. Instead, he called it “stupid” and “malicious.”
