The playoff matchup that NBA fans have been salivating about since the season began is here … almost.
After taking care of business in their respective series on Tuesday night, the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets will meet in the Western Conference Finals starting on Monday night in Houston.
The Rockets reached the WCF by knocking off the Utah Jazz 112-102 in Game 5 of their series while the Warriors eliminated the New Orleans Pelicans with a 113-104 win in their Game 5.
Now that the stage is finally set, both teams are looking forward to what should be an intense series between a pair of squads that played a trio of competitive games during the season, Houston winning two and the Golden State taking one.
“I’m real excited,” Clint Capela said about the matchup with the Warriors. “This team is going to be hard, it’s going to be a fight. There’s going to be a lot of adjustments after every game. It’s going to be a chess game. Of course, we’re going to be ready. They’ve been to the Finals three straight years. We’re just excited. Everybody’s excited about it. And I’m sure all the NBA fans are excited about it too.”
In the Eastern Conference, the Cavaliers are awaiting the winner of the 76ers/Celtics series. That series resumes tonight during Game 5 in Boston with the C’s leading the Sixers 3-1.
