During a lengthy phone call last week, President Donald Trump reportedly discussed the status of quarterback Tom Brady with New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick.
Now, it appears as if Trump and Belichick probably discussed something else: working together.
On Friday, Axios reported Trump would be appointing Belichick, Herschel Walker and a number of other sports celebrities to the government’s “Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition.”
Joining Belichick and Walker on the council are golfer Natalie Gulbis, three-time Olympic beach volleyball gold medalist Misty May-Treanor and retired Major League Baseball closer Mariano Rivera.
Around since 1956, the Council is dedicated to encouraging Americans to adopt a healthy lifestyle that includes regular physical activity like participating in sports and good nutrition.
Trump is expected to host the council members in Washington in the coming months and host a sports field day on the South Lawn. It will be interesting to see if Belichick actually attends.
