The debut trailer for the 2018 edition of Hard Knocks on HBO highlights the new players the Browns have brought to Cleveland this offseason – a choice that makes sense considering the team went winless last season.
Those players include veterans, like former Bills starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor and former Dolphins wide receiver Jarvis Landry, as well as first-round draft picks quarterback Baker Mayfield and cornerback Denzel Ward.
“It’s an opportunity to let your personality show and let guys be themselves,” Landry says in the clip.
One of the themes of the show will likely be the battles that should occur in training camp. In addition to Taylor and Mayfield competing for the No. 1 quarterback spot, rookie running back Nick Chubb and veteran Carlos Hyde will be battling it out for the gig as first-stringer rusher.
“This is just going to be a tool for all involved,” coach Hue Jackson said when it was announced Cleveland would be featured on the show’s 14th season. “Another opportunity for people to truly see what we do on an everyday basis and really be able to see the behind-the-scenes work that goes on here. Nothing more, nothing less with our football team.”
Last year’s Hard Knocks team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers finished a disappointing 5-11. But if the Browns can replicate that record this year, it would be a major achievement.
