If Kurt Warner is to believed, a spot in the Monday Night Football booth wasn’t the only job he was considering taking this coming football season.
During an appearance in the St. Louis Cardinals broadcast booth on Monday night, the 47-year-old said he was considering making an NFL comeback this season and, even more surprisingly, a team actually was interested.

Warner didn’t reveal the name of the coach he was talking to or the role that was being discussed, but, if the conversation really did happen, one has to think it was about filling a backup role.
“There have been moments where I was like, I feel so good and I look at the state of the quarterbacks sometimes in the league and say, I think I could do it better than them if I could get back up to form and spend some time,” Warner said during the broadcast. “I’m just hoping that one team, at some point, gives me another 7-on-7. Just give me 20 plays and let me see if I can still do it.”
One thing is for sure: if Warner does ever get a spot on a roster and Colin Kaepernick doesn’t have one, the former 49er should win his collusion lawsuit against the NFL automatically.
