Toothpick Crossbows Are Some Seriously Medieval Sh*t

Great, now I have to build another tiny shield

From Ralphie’s Red Ryder BB gun to GHB-coated beads, the United States has a rich history of creating very dangerous toys for our youth.

As a new craze that’s purportedly sweeping across China makes clear, it’s not just an American pastime.

Available for just $1, and basically everywhere, the Toothpick Crossbow (exactly what it sounds like ) is starting to be used with other pieces of ammunition including needles and nails. When loaded with those projectiles, the crossbow can crack glass, Shanghai Daily reported.

Currently “spreading across China like wildfire among the nation’s primary and middle school children,” the crossbow, while tiny, does seem like it would actually be dangerous to any animate creatures in its path.

Suddenly fidget spinners are seeming much more appealing.
