Durable, handmade goods from Peg and Awl

  • 25 March 2013

They say everything old is new again. A phrase that usually pertains to durable handmade goods, or Joan Rivers.

For the best of the former, check out Peg and Awl, taking orders now.

Named after a folky earworm about shoemaking (the Pete Seeger version ain’t half bad), P & A’s run by a husband-and-wife duo who handcraft home and garden wares from “olde things” and “treasures found.”

Yes, olde. Not old. It’s that kind of site.

Peg and AwlAnd though you might not want to truly go back to those dusty halcyon days (Remember old phones? With actual cords?) you’d be forgiven for enjoying Peg and Awl’s romantic wares.

Like a wall-mounted iPad Easel made from reclaimed 19th-century oak. Or a sturdy desk caddy organizer fashioned from the pine wood of antique floor joists. Gorgeous oak serving boards fitted with aged steel boat cleat handles.

Plus, apothecary spice racks, a kid’s swing of olde growth pine, assorted decoupage, and – why not? – photographs inspired by Austrian logician Kurt Godel’s incompleteness theorems.

The items are made-to-order and one-of-a-kind, often selling out as new historical items (like a DIY bookbinding kit) are added.

So buy now – before the rest is history.
