Messi is having a great week. His rival, not so much.

Now that the NBA Finals are over and baseball is still three months away from the part worth paying attention to, let us direct our sporting attention toward that sport that America is secretly but begrudgingly cottoning to: soccer.

First order of business: Lionel Messi, who made the U.S. Men's National Team look like a band of harried schoolchildren in last night's Copa América semifinal ... especially poor goalkeeper Brad Guzan, who Messi took to the cleaners twice.

First, with a glorious sand-wedged pass to send teammate Ezequiel Lavezzi through on goal in the the third minute (see video above), and then again with this little piece of magic:

Messi adversary Cristiano Ronaldo, meanwhile, is having a tougher go of things at the European Championships.

His Portugal team are yet to win a game in the tournament, he clanged a penalty off the post his last time out, and then this morning, this happened:

The microphone belongs to Portuguese TV station CMTV, with whom the Portuguese star has a strained history, having won a court case for slander against them in 2014.

He'll have an opportunity to right the ship this afternoon, when Portugal play Hungary to try to ensure safe passage to the tournament's knockout stages.
