Too soon after Chris Cornell the music world has another multiplatinum artist to mourn.
Chester Bennington, the lead singer of Linkin Park, who recently scored their sixth No. 1 album, hung himself in his L.A. home, according to TMZ. He was 41.
Bennington’s bandmate Mike Shinoda confirmed the news via Twitter.
Shocked and heartbroken, but it’s true. An official statement will come out as soon as we have one.

Bennington had also toured as the lead singer of ’90s alternative band the Stone Temple Pilots and recorded new material with the band several years ago.
Bennington is survived by his wife, Talinda Ann Bentley, and his six children (two from a previous relationship; one from his first marriage; and three with Bentley).
