If you watched Captain America: Civil War, you may have noticed Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Falcon, and many other superheroes including Captain America himself. But Thor? Not so much. Why wasn’t Thor around? The official reason: At the end of The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Thor went on a mission investigating the Infinity Stones.
Now, however, there’s a better answer: Thor was spending time with “average, everyday people,” notably his roommate Darryl. In a short directed by Taika Waititi (maker of the highly acclaimed comedy Hunt for the Wilderpeople and director of the upcoming Thor: Ragnorak), we see Thor trying to make peace between Iron Man and Captain America through dictated emails, showing off his new digs, and just generally being a little sad after missing out on the big battle. (Thor concedes he is hard to contact because of his lack of a phone but insists there are other forms of communication: “Send a raven.”)
