Charlie Murphy, the brother of Eddie who became a star in his own right on Chappelle’s Show, has died at 57 of leukemia.
A standup comic and actor, Murphy is best known for Chappelle’s Show‘s recurring segment “Charlie Murphy’s True Hollywood Stories,” in which Charlie recounted his hilarious and often surreal adventures with Rick James and Prince.
Though his celebrity was often eclipsed by his younger brother, a Saturday Night Live veteran, Charlie carved his own path with memorable supporting roles in 1989’s Harlem Nights and in the Spike Lee-directed films, Mo’ Better Blues and Jungle Fever.
