Josh Gordon Traded to New England Patriots for Draft Pick

At best, the Browns will get a fifth-round pick for the troubled wide receiver.

After a glut of off-field issues, Josh Gordon is going from a team that didn’t win a game last season to a team that played in the Super Bowl.

Gordon, who was inactive in Week 2 following an odd hamstring injury that occurred at a non-sanctioned event, was traded by the Cleveland Browns to the New England Patriots.

In exchange for the player, the Browns will receive a 2019 fifth-round pick. If Gordon is not active for 10 games, the Patriots will get back a seventh-round pick in 2019.

As for that hamstring, it doesn’t sound like it will be enough to keep Tom Brady’s new target off the field when the Patriots take on the Lions in Detroit on Sunday night.

To make room for Gordon, the Patriots are cutting recently-signed receiver Corey Coleman, who was a teammate of Gordon’s with the Browns.

The Browns were reportedly looking to deal Gordon out of the AFC and had been talking with the Cowboys, Redskins, 49ers, and others about a potential deal, tut Patriots “stepped in and closed.”

If Gordon can stay on the field by behaving, it’ll be a huge boon for New England as they have been going through pass-catchers like hotcakes since losing the Super Bowl to the Eagles.
