One of the world’s most famous and influential self-help practitioners, Tony Robbins, is being accused of sexual harassment on top of accusations that he screamed at rape victims on now-leaked tapes that reveal his “therapy” methods.

The man who sits atop a multibillion-dollar business and claims he has the power to “transform lives” and “rewire brains” tells followers that they should not see themselves as victims, but should instead view their pain as something they have the power to “destroy.” But after a yearlong investigation by BuzzFeed News in which reporters dove into taped recordings of his patient sessions, internal documents, and dozens of interviews with fans and insiders, the site has unveiled Robbins as a person who “berates abuse victims and subjected his followers to unorthodox and potentially dangerous techniques. And [who] former female fans and staffers have accused of inappropriate sexual advances.”

Two former followers of Robbins who went on to work for him signed statements they swore by under oath that he repeatedly pursued them, even after they made it clear they weren’t interested. Two more women who worked as his former assistants said Robbins expected them to work alone with him while he was naked in the shower or his hotel room.

The tapes acquired by the investigative team revealed Robbins’s “therapy” tactics included “expletive-laden tirades” on survivors of rape and domestic violence.

“She’s f*cking using all this stuff to try and control men,” he said in response to one woman’s rape story. In 2018, when another woman said her husband was physically and emotionally abusive, Robbins accused her of “lying” and asked, “Does he put up with you when you’ve been a crazy bitch?”
