Homeland Security Secretary Chased Out of Mexican Restaurant in D.C.
Protestors entered the restaurant yelling, “Shame!”
Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen was forced to leave a Mexican restaurant in Washington, D.C. when protestors entered yelling, “Shame!” The demonstrators arrived at MXDC Cocina Mexicana around 8 p.m. while Nielsen was eating dinner. Staff members tried to contain the situation.
“In a Mexican restaurant of all places,” one protester yelled, according to The New York a Post. “The fu–ing gall.”
Another protestor plays audio of children crying at a detention center in Texas that was recorded recently and obtained by ProPublica.
“How does it make you feel?” a protester yells.
A spokesperson for Homeland Security later explained away the situation, saying Nielsen met some “concerned citizens” while eating dinner.
“The Secretary and her staff heard from a small group of protestors who share her concern with our current immigration laws that have created a crisis on our southern border,” Tyler Q. Houlton tweeted.
.@SecNielsen encourages all – including this group – who want to see an immigration system that works, contributes to our economy, protects our security, & reflects our values reach out to Members & seek their support to close immigration loopholes that made our system a mess.
