Is there anything better than enjoying an outdoor summer barbecue, feasting on your favorite grilled chicken and beer combination? How about sipping on some chicken-flavored beer? Perdue Farms, a U.S. chicken producer, is releasing a limited-edition chicken beer — just in time for your family’s annual summer cookout.

Perdue’s Beer Can Chicken Beer is brewed with rosemary, thyme and pink peppercorn — all classic go-to chicken seasonings. It’s a honey double-citrus summer ale that’s tangy, juicy and sweet, so it’s perfect for grillers looking to make “beer can chicken” or cookout invitees looking to make a last-minute party contribution by bringing a six-pack to sip on.

“Because when tacos win, we all win,” Taco Bell wrote in a press release

They created the beer in partnership with Torch & Crown Brewing Company, a brewery based in Manhattan to meet the need for beer can chicken recipes, which increased in online conversations by 20% this year, according to Perdue’s press release and Netbase.

“Beer can chicken has long been one of the most popular methods of grilling poultry, but we noticed a lack of consensus on what type of beer is best,” Julie Lehman, Perdue vice president of marketing, said in the release. “As the fresh chicken experts, we worked with our friends at Torch & Crown Brewing Company to settle the debate for once and all and make a beer that is expertly crafted to help backyard cooking enthusiasts prepare the ultimate beer can chicken — always with a fresh, whole PERDUE® chicken — with maximum flavor each and every time.”

The method of making beer can chicken is pretty simple. It involves pouring some beer into a food-grade roasting stand, standing a chicken upright and using a grill or smoker to cook it. The release says it allows the chicken to marinate from the inside and outside and it keeps it moist — you’ll also likely have some beer left over to sip on while your chicken cooks, which is kind of an interesting plus.  But don’t worry — Perdue already has step-by-step instructions and several Beer Can Chicken Beer recipes for you, and it sounds like there’s still more to come.

If you want to purchase the beer, you can buy it here starting May 22 at 9 a.m for $14.99. Perdue is also selling limited-edition chickens in retail stores nationwide and online that come with a can of Beer Can Chicken Beer. We’re not sure how long it’ll be selling for or if it’ll be competitive to find, so we’re wishing you the best of cluck on your Beer Can Chicken Beer hunt.
