Not even Ryan Seacrest can deal right now

It’s easy to forget that Ryan Seacrest is an actual human being and not just some kind of fictional media mascot. A ubiquitous presence for decades, Seacrest has had a hand in everything from American Idol to Keeping Up With the Kardashians, while juggling various other roles in radio and television in addition to his own production company and other business ventures.

The world was reminded of Ryan Seacrest’s humanity last month, however, when signs of distress during his from-home broadcast of the American Idol finale prompted fears and rumors about his health. While Seacrest’s team denied rumors that the host had a stroke, Seacrest later admitted he had suffered exhaustion on a broadcast of Live with Kelly Ripa, after returning to his role as co-host after an unscheduled break.

While Seacrest seemed to downplay his health scare, a new report from Page Six suggests colleagues and industry insiders are still worried about Seacrest’s health, with one ABC source telling the outlet that “there are people at the network who are extremely worried that he is overdoing it.”

According to one source, Seacrest’s exhaustion seems to be the unsurprising result of the prolific producer’s unyielding schedule and decades of workaholic tendencies.

“People underestimate just how much work Ryan puts in every day,” the source told Page Six. “He wakes up at 4 a.m., has producer meetings by 5 a.m. and has to be ready to film at 6 a.m. LA time as ‘Live’ goes on air at 9 a.m. EST. Add the radio show every day, in addition to hosting ‘Idol’ and additional content for his platforms.”

In other words, while many of us are struggling to find the will to hold down one job in quarantine, Seacrest is still trying to do at least 27 jobs while society crumbles around us. As it turn out, not even Ryan Seacrest can deal right now, so good luck to the rest of us.
