Back in 1865, a 25-ton blue whale was beached outside of Gothenburg, Sweden. Although its life was promptly ended by locals, Swedish zoologist August Wilhelm Malm decided to preserve its carcass, hollowing the whale out and making its body cavity into a sitting room. It’s currently on display at the Gothenburg Museum of Natural History—and patrons can still go inside it, as is obvious from this amateur video tour. Take a look at more photos of the whale below.
