The Vatican has sold Pope Francis’ custom Lamborghini Huracan for $950,000, which is nearly five times what the $200,000 car is worth. The Pope signed the car, which is decked out in a special shade of Bianco Monocerus (white) with Giallo Tiberino (yellow) stripes and detailing alongside its body as an homage to the colors of the flag of Vatican City.
Lamborghini presented the 610-horsepower, V10-powered coupe to the leader of the Catholic Church last year, knowing that it would be auctioned off for charity. Seventy percent of the sale will go towards rebuilding homes, churches and public buildings in Nineveh, a city in Iraq that has been destroyed through fights with ISIS. Ten percent of the proceeds will go towards two Italian associations that work predominantly with women and children in Africa, reports Maxim. And the remaining 10 percent will go towards the Pope John XXIII Community, an organization dedicated to helping female victims of sex trafficking.
