Playboy acknowledged in its recent profile of Clara McGregor that they probably wouldn’t be talking to her if not for her father, Ewan, of Transporting and Moulin Rouge fame. But the magazine’s Anna del Gaizo writes that the 22-year-old is “in essence the antidote to what we expect of celebrity offspring” because she’s understated and low-key, and comprehends that she’s going to have to work hard to make it in the business — no matter who her father is.
“It helps that I was exposed to really great movies as a kid and seeing my dad love his job,” McGregor said of her acting prowess. “All of that contributed to me loving film, but it definitely didn’t just hand me a skill. I try to watch as many movies as I can.”
In fact, she grew up not wanting to be in front of the camera at all — she told Playboy she “rebelled” by insisting on working as a photographer because she felt pressure to follow in her father’s footsteps.
“I got to college and asked myself, ‘Why are you being so stubborn about this?’ I wasn’t happy in the photo department so I transferred to the film studies department and then I took an acting class and fell in love with it.”
But it’s not all work and no play for McGregor, who just moved to Greenpoint, Brooklyn. She’s loving that every day feels like a new adventure. She also revealed when she feels her best— and it’s not in a fancy dress and high heels.
“I honestly feel sexiest when I’m in my favorite pair of mom jeans. They’re old Levi’s; they’re classic yet they get your booty just right in there,” McGregor told Playboy. “When I was younger, I would try to wear heels or tight dresses and then I was like, ‘I’m over this!’ I can wear my baggy pants and I can still be pretty.”
