The brother of Lauren Sanchez has opened up about his sister’s infamous affair with Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos in a revealing New York Post tell-all.
Michael Sanchez, who has been accused of conspiring with the National Enquirer to leak information about the affair, told the Post he had actually tried to protect the couple.
“They were so in love they didn’t have any plan,” Sanchez told the outlet. “They had no idea what they were doing. They were [regularly] together at Lauren’s Santa Monica house, which is all glass, taking all these insane risks.”
According to Sanchez, he, along with his sister and Bezos, began receiving requests for comment from the National Enquirer early this year, shortly before Bezos took to Twitter to announce his divorce from his wife of 25 years, MacKenzie.
Sanchez admitted he agreed to help provide a photo of the illicit couple kissing in what he claimed was an attempt to downplay the tabloid’s coverage. Sanchez, who was reportedly offered $200,000 by the Enquirer for his participation in the story, told the Post he agreed to help secure the picture in return for “softer” coverage and a delayed break of the story.
“I would never sell out my sister,” he told the Post. Everything I did was to protect Jeff and Lauren.”
While Sanchez admitted the relationship between his sister and Bezos suffered in the immediate aftermath of the tabloid leak, he added that the couple is now stronger than ever.
“Lauren and Jeff think they are meant to be,” he said. “That it’s written in the stars.”
