Here are two things you probably didn’t know about Guinness World Record for fastest lawnmower:

1) Honda and Top Gear set the record in March of 2014 when they cranked a tuned-up mower all the way up to a blistering 116.575 miles.

2) That record does actually exist – although Honda and Top Gear no longer hold it.

The year after Honda and Top Gear set the mark, a Norwegian tuning firm dropped a V8 from a Corvette into the body of a STIHL mower and managed a record-breaking speed of 134 MPH.

Now, three years later, Honda and Top Gear are looking for some payback.

In the near future, stunt driver Jess Hawkins will try to take the record back with a turbocharged grass chopper the team has dubbed the Honda Mean Mower Mk. 2. Equipped with a 999cc SP1 Fireblade engine, the powerful mower should be able to do 0-60 in fewer than three seconds.

Whether that’ll be good enough to break the record remains to be seen, but we fully support Honda and Top Gear doing their best to mow down the competition. Kick some grass folks.
