“I’m kind of a big deal. Everyone knows me.”
Yes, they do, and Ron Burgundy has returned … thankfully not in a mediocre movie sequel. Will Ferrell’s clueless Anchorman protagonist will instead make his return on The Ron Burgundy Podcast, debuting early 2019.
Co-produced by Funny or Die and iHeartRadio, the show will run on iHeart’s Podcast Network for at least two 12-episode seasons.
“Listen, I don’t know what a podcast is, but I currently have a lot of time on my hands and a lot to talk about,” Burgundy ‘said’ in the press release. “I am also broke. Therefore, I am very excited to do this podcast. It is literally saving my life.”
The deal was first announced via the just-launched BurgundyPodcast account on Twitter, where the newly-annointed podcast host harassed CNN’s Don Lemon.
Hello, @donlemon! It’s your good friend, Ron Burgundy. Don’t know if you heard, but I recently had my White House press credentials pulled. They accused me of eating too many hot dogs in the press break room.

Will a 2004 classic work fifteen years later in a different format and in a decidedly different cultural climate? We quote the great Brian Fantana: “They’ve done studies, you know. Sixty percent of the time it works every time.”
