Notorious mobster James “Whitey” Bulger was killed after being moved to a maximum security federal prison in West Virginia, the Boston Herald reported. It’s a grisly end for a criminal who was convicted of 11 homicides across three states.

Bulger arrived at USP Hazelton yesterday, and was found unresponsive in a cell at 8:20 this morning, according to a representative of the Bureau of Prisons.

The 89-year-old Boston gangster, and his girlfriend, Catherine Greig, were captured in 2011 after years on the lam while living in Santa Monica, Calif. He was convicted two years later.

Bulger’s reign of terror was so notorious, he inspired several films including 2006’s The Departed and 2015’s Black Mass.

“He will be getting a pitchfork in the ass from the devil now,” Tommy Donahue, whose dad Michael was one of Bulger’s victims, told The Boston Herald. “His (expletive) legacy is gone. We can finally put him behind us.”
