2018’s Mardi Gras celebration is a particularly special one, as it coincides with New Orleans’ tricentennial. Rex, one of Mardi Gras’ two major parades, will feature something of a history of the city dating back to the European settlement in 1718 through its floats this Fat Tuesday, according to the AP. Rex will be immediately preceded by Zulu, the day’s other major parade. The New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau estimates that Mardi Gras brings in one million tourists, as well as $840 million for the city of New Orleans. Today’s forecast carries the chance of thunderstorms, and temperatures in the 60s.
