According to Deadline, one of the greatest pairings of actors and director in the history of film could soon be coming to the big screen. Per the website, Academy Award winners Leonard DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, along with Oscar-winning diector Martin Scorsese, are eyeing a film adaptation of David Grann’s book Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI, which hit bookshelves as of last week. Last year, a bidding war for the movie rights of the book brought a $5 million purse.
To give you a taste of the story, per Penguin Random House, the book covers the systematic murder of the Osage Indians in the 1920s, a group that had taken ownership over land that turned out to be worth its weight in black gold. It would be one of the first major cases the FBI took up—and they blew it. So to make things right, they let a former Texas Ranger set up an undercover team to solve the case.
Of course, De Niro (Casino, Goodfellas) and DiCaprio (The Wolf of Wall Street, The Departed) have both teamed up with Scorsese on respective films, but all three have never worked together on a major feature.
