Today in custom builds that’ll make a grown man cry, a masterpiece of a ride from Germany-based Dirk Oehlerking and Kingston Customs.
Because how one can look at a donor BMW R80RT and tool out this sort of brilliance is beyond us. There’s a word for that, it’s “visionary.”
Though there’s little left of the original ride, it’s built around the ever-present 798cc boxer engine, a heavy-hitting Bavarian twin like no other. Couple that power with smooth bodywork and you’ve got quite the artful juxtaposition.
Oehlerking dedicated countless hours to cutting mock-up patterns out of cardboard until a perfect form presented itself. He then converted the shape to aluminum and got to hammering. Measure twice, cut once, as they say.
In the detail department, the gauges are brassed-rimmed and she’s topped with fine tan leather to count as a seat.
Head on over to Kingston Custom for more mind-boggling custom works.
