Preceding last Sunday’s Monaco Grand Prix, Shinola released the racing-inspired Canfield Speedway, their first-ever automatic chronograph, complete with a tachymeter and rainbow liveried dial, which sold out of the first run of 250 with lightning speed. It’s a good reminder that the Detroit brand is worth following, but also that their regular production timepieces are worth a second look, especially as a handful of them are currently on sale at Nordstrom.

Right now at the department store, six Shinola watches are 20% off, including three chronographs, two of their funkier Detrola models and one version of their flagship Runwell. All of these particular timepieces feature the brand’s proprietary Argonite quartz movements, which are assembled in Detroit, so they’re easy to maintain, but that doesn’t mean they’re simple.

Take, for example, the Canfield Sport 45mm: it’s $170 off and has three sub-dials, day-date windows, and a fourth hand with a striking orange tip pointing out the numerical date along the outer rim (somehow, the face doesn’t look cluttered). Then there’s the 47mm Runwell, $119 off, which is a no-brainer for someone looking to pick up their first Shinola. But our favorite might just be the No. 2 Detrola, $79 off, so named for the color scheme that evokes grade-school pencils; it’s a fun watch anyone can put into their lineup to add some joy back into their daily routine.
