An odd bit of praise for a speaker, but the mic-less Sonos One SL is a powerful speaker on its own that also pairs well with other Sonos speakers (Playbar, Playbase, Beam, etc.) to offer surround-sound. On a budget, too.
The selling point is what’s missing: Microphones. This Wifi (not Bluetooth) speaker can’t “hear” you. The One SL is not smart and has no voice control.
Ergo, it’s great if you’re into privacy and it’ll also save you a few bucks. And right now the Sonos One SL is on sale for $139, down from $179.
(If you absolutely need access to a smart assistant and voice controls? The Sonos One is also $40 cheaper today at $159.)
