At the end of their series opener against the Cavs in Toronto, the Raptors looked Jurassic.
After leading for literally all of the game, the Raptors missed four straight shots – including a pair of tip-in baskets – that could have won them the game as regulation wound to a close at a tie.
In overtime, Kyle Korver scored the last of his 19 points on a go-ahead 3-pointer that put Cleveland ahead and they went on to win 113-112 to snatch homecourt advantage from the Raptors.
After not getting much help from his teammates in Round 1, LeBron James – who had 26 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds for his 21st career playoff triple-double – got a lift from Korver, J.R. Smith (20 points) and even Tristan Thompson (14 points and 12 rebounds).
In the only other NBA game on Tuesday night, Steph Curry returned to the court for the defending champion Warriors and helped Golden State coast to a relatively easy 121-116 home win over the New Orlean Pelicans in Game 2 of their series.
The two-time MVP came off the bench but was still able to notch 28 points in Golden State’s franchise-record 14th consecutive postseason victory at Oracle Arena.
“It was an eternity it felt like, for sure,” Curry said. “When the lights come back on after the starting lineups you’re usually in the go kind of mind frame. I had to kind of pace myself and be patient with it. It seemed like it took forever, but it was a good feeling to get back out on the floor and just let loose and have fun.”
Tonight, the Jazz will take on the Rockets in Houston in Game 2 of their series. Utah trails 1-0.
