The Belmond Royal Scotsman is one of the world’s superlative rail journeys. Up to 40 guests set off from Edinburgh in a luxuriously appointed train and roll across the Scottish highlands … or even a seven-day tour of the entire British isle. It’s a singular way to see one of the world’s most beautiful places: misty mountains, foggy lochs, cloud-covered heath — you get the picture. (“Scotland: Beautiful Despite the Weather!”)
But in case you needed extra enticement, the Royal Scotsman has just added a spa.

A spa on a train?
One of the few downsides to extensive train journeys is that you’re in a confined space for a long time: it’s not a submarine, but you better believe the sleeping quarters are narrow. How to knock out the kinks and muscle aches of life in a small space? With a massage, of course — at the Bamford Haybarn Spa, two treatment rooms built into the Royal Scotsman’s carriages.
If a regular, stationary spa offers it, you can probably get it here: massages, facials — the works. Look for a full treatment list as we inch closer to the April launch.
It’s the cherry on top of an already exceptionally compelling cake.
