The cunning protagonist in Netflix’s White House drama House of Cards, portrayed by Kevin Spacey, may now be killed off in light of multiple allegations of sexual harassment and assault leveled against the actor, Esquire is reporting. Netflix has already suspended production of the show and announced the sixth season would be its finale.
As Variety notes, producers are “cognizant” that the 300 cast and crew who were slated to work on the season will be out of a job if filming doesn’t resume. Variety reports the “feeling” among producers is that Spacey’s alleged misconduct shouldn’t penalize the rest of the people who work on the show and who did nothing wrong.
President Frank Underwood won’t be handled with the same care, however, might be summarily dispatched off-screen. Plus, the show might still go on after the next season, as there are already whispers of a House of Cards spin-off, including one involving Doug Stamper, who portrays a ruthless White House Chief of Staff on the show.
