With production shut down on Bachelor in Paradise over an alleged incident of sexual misconduct on the show’s Mexico set, one of the contestants involved has stepped forward to publicly speak about her ordeal—and hired one of the top lawyers in Hollywood.
In a statement to Variety, Corinne Olympios called herself “a victim (who has spent the last week trying to make sense of what happened the night of June 4.” (RealClearLife would previously not use her name in articles on the incident, but is doing so now because she came forward publicly.)
Crew-members confirmed to several outlets that the incident on that night was a sexual assault involving two intoxicated contestants, one too drunk to give consent.
“Although I have little memory of that night, something bad obviously took place, which I understand is why production on the show has now been suspended and a producer on the show has filed a complaint against the production,” she wrote. “As a woman, this is my worst nightmare and it has now become my reality. As I pursue the details and facts surrounding that night and the immediate days after, I have retained a group of professionals to ensure that what happened on June 4 comes to light and I can continue my life, including hiring an attorney to obtain justice and seeking therapy to begin dealing with the physical and emotional trauma stemming from that evening.”
That attorney is Marty Singer, according to Variety, who has represented a who’s who of celebrities, including John Travolta and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Bachelor in Paradise was scheduled to start its fourth season on Aug. 8, but many industry watchers believe ABC will be forced to cancel the show entirely in the wake of the scandal.
