After President Trump’s kerfuffle with the NFL following his comments in Alabama on Friday and via Twitter Sunday, you might have forgotten that that was the president’s second major beef with a professional sport in two days.
On Saturday, the president also tweeted that he’d rescinded a White House invitation to the Golden State Warriors’ star Stephen Curry, who told reporters on Friday night that he didn’t want to go if invited to the White House to celebrate his team’s most recent NBA championship.
This followed coach Steve Kerr‘s comments to ESPN about wanting to meet as a team before a decision would be made about attending a White House invitation. (Mind you, no formal invite has been provided the team yet; the Warriors reportedly met Saturday night.)
Following Trump’s tweet, a number of NBA stars—including LeBron James—slammed the president on Twitter (not to mention a handful of players from other sports). Read some of their tweets below.
U bum @StephenCurry30 already said he ain’t going! So therefore ain’t no invite. Going to White House was a great honor until you showed up!

The behavior of the President is unacceptable and needs to be addressed. If you do not Condemn this divisive Rhetoric you are Condoning it!!
