Stop us if you’ve heard this before: a video-game giant is releasing a miniature version of an old console.

Now available for preorder, the PlayStation Classic will arrive in early December with 20 games preloaded on a slightly-larger-than-palm-sized device. About 45% smaller than the original console, the PS Classic ($100) will feature classic titles such as Final Fantasy VII, Tekken 3 and Wild Arms, along with two old-school wired controllers and assorted connecting cables.

Surprisingly, a lot of details — including most of the 20 games embedded in the system — haven’t been released yet. For now, the Classic appears to be driven entirely by nostalgia, and unlike the “new” Atari, there doesn’t seem to be anything that would bridge the gap between old and new players (as of now, the console doesn’t appear to connect to the PlayStation store or have any sort of online connection whatsoever).

The original PlayStation, released in late 1994, was the first console to ship 100 million units worldwide.

Don't hold your breath for those numbers this time around.
