If at first you don’t succeed, fly, fly again.
That’s the mantra this week for JetBlue, who — after losing out to Alaska Airlines in the Virgin America sweepstakes — got right back on the proverbial horse and announced they’ll be increasing their luxury offerings anyway.
That’s superb news for anyone looking to book a first class cross-country flight for $599, the entry price for the New York airline’s premium offerings.
The expansion will come next year, when JetBlue’s version of first class, Mint, will begin servicing four more cities (Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, San Diego and Seattle) and expand its offerings in four others (New York, Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco).
Passengers on Mint’s new Airbus A321 aircraft will enjoy amenities like private suites, the longest fully-flat beds in premium U.S. air travel, signature cocktails, a tapas-style menu, flight kits by Birchbox, dessert from Blue Marble and Mah-ze-Dahr Bakery and free high-speed Wi-Fi.
As pointed out by our friend the Points Guy last year, Mint is a superior option both in terms of price and comfort when it comes to premium flights: “With the option to book a suite with a closable door at the same price as regular Mint class, the amazing menu and everything in between, I think Mint is the best way to fly business class for domestic travel.”
Amen, brother.
