The Beatles’ most important album, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, turns 50 this year. And to celebrate that feat, a special reissue of the album is being released, featuring six discs’ worth of never-before-heard mixes and outtakes from the sessions leading up to its original street date on June 1, 1967 (pre-order a copy here).
One of those outtakes—take 9 of the track, “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” (minus George Harrison’s blistering guitar riff, the horns, and the cheers)—has been released in advance of the reissue. (The audio also includes some banter between the Beatles.)
