As we pointed out last month, purchasing a bottle of The Macallan 65 Years Old is a stellar way to class up your liquor cabinet as well as a decent way to improve your investment portfolio.
We’d say the same principles apply to a new collection of The Macallan whiskies that’s crossing the block next month in Hong Kong via Bonhams — except multiplied six times over.
Following a 10-year collaboration with French crystal house Lalique, six rare The Macallan whiskies aged between 50 to 65 years will be sold as a set in individual crystal decanters.
Dubbed the Six Pillars Collection, the single malts are aged 50, 55, 57, 60, 62, and 65 years old and named Exceptional Oak Cask, Natural Color, Finest Cut, Curiously Small Stills, Spiritual Home and Peerless Spirit, respectively.
Along with the high-end hooch, the lot includes a bespoke cabinet to house the bottles along with six pairs of Lalique Macallan glasses and the ability to host the best happy hour in history.
“Bottles from The Macallan in Lalique Six Pillars Collection are among the most sought after and highest performing whiskies at auction,” said Bonhams whisky expert Daniel Lam. ”This is a wonderful and rare opportunity for collectors to acquire such a desirable set in its entirety.”
