Wes Anderson’s new Disney sci-fi epic … just kidding.

The French Dispatch is the official name of Anderson’s new film, set to open in July 2020. Searchlight Pictures just released the film’s synopsis, release date and cast list, as noted by the movie site Dark Horizons.

So what do we know? It’s not a musical, it’s not four hours long but it does have the same budget as the auteur’s previous film, Grand Budapest Hotel — $25 million.

The script by Anderson (from a story by the filmmaker along with Roman Coppola, Jason Schwartzman and Hugo Guinness) “brings to life a collection of stories from the final issue of an American magazine published in a fictional 20th-century French city.”

As Anderson, who now lives in France, remarked last year, “It is more a portrait of this man, of this journalist who fights to write what he wants to write. It’s not a movie about freedom of the press, but when you talk about reporters you also talk about what’s going on in the real world.”

No surprise, the film stars Anderson regulars Bill Murray, Owen Wilson and Adrien Brody, along with Benicio del Toro, Tilda Swinton, Lea Seydoux, Frances McDormand, Timothee Chalamet, Lyna Khoudri, Jeffrey Wright and more.

The French Dispatch opens nationwide on July 24th.
